SPSTC Hammerheads

The SPSTC Hammerhead swim team offers swimmers ages 5-18 the chance to challenge themselves, to be part of a team, and to enjoy the experience of competition and sportsmanship. Most importantly we want all of our kids to develop a lifelong love for swimming! Our swim program is designed to focus on the development of young swimmers - - enhancing both competitive skills and proper stroke technique. 

We encourage all SPSTC Member children with an interest in swimming to join the team! We suggest team participants be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted. If needed, shrimpers (6 and under) can have a coach in the water for the first two meets for assistance. After the first two meets shrimpers must be able to swim the length unassisted to be able to participate in meets.  All shrimpers are allowed to practice the entire season, regardless of their ability to swim a lap independently. Introductory swim lessons, while often conducted by our Swim Team coaches, are offered separately and are not part of the Swim Team.

We are part of Southpark Swim League, which is an 8 team league that was formed in 2007.  Our season is made up of 5 dual swim meets and an All Stars meet.  All swim team members are invited to participate in each dual meet (with the exception of shrimpers who need assistance, see above) and our All Stars team is made up of the top two swimmers in each event.
